Dr Cate spent many years in anaesthetics and 20 years as head of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Tygerberg Hospital. In October 2019, she qualified through the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine after spending three years in the UAE.

Her Welgemoed practice focuses on medical-grade skin care, anti-ageing and rejuvenation, with an emphasis on subtle, age-appropriate results.

  2. Your relevant medical history, medication and treatment suitability are reviewed.
  3. Appropriate options, expected outcomes, preparation, aftercare, risks and possible downtime are discussed.
  4. An individual treatment plan is agreed upon before proceeding.

Medical-grade skin care

Prescription-led products with higher concentrations of active ingredients may be selected for specific concerns. Dr Cate advocates the GRASS approach after cleansing: growth factors, retinoids, antioxidants, specialty products and sunscreen SPF 30+.

Chemical peels

Medical-grade exfoliation selected for your skin type and concern, including fine lines, uneven tone, acne, roughness, pigmentation and sun damage. Pretreatment, aftercare and downtime are discussed in advance.

Microneedling

Controlled micro-injuries stimulate the skin’s repair response and collagen and elastin production. Treatment may also support the delivery of selected active ingredients into the skin.

Botulinum toxin A

Used to soften selected expression lines while retaining natural facial animation. Medical applications, treatment timing, expected duration and possible side effects are discussed during consultation.

Hyaluronic acid fillers & skinboosters

Dermal fillers may replace age-related volume loss, reshape selected facial structures or enhance features. Softer skinboosters are placed superficially to hydrate and plump the skin.

Combination treatments

Botulinum toxin and filler may be combined in a single treatment plan where appropriate, with a focus on balanced, subtle and age-appropriate enhancement.

Acne care

Assessment and treatment options are available for teenagers and adults affected by acne, including care intended to reduce the risk of ongoing inflammation and scarring.

Hormone & hair consultations

Consultations are available to discuss hormone replacement therapy for women and men, including blood tests and treatment regimes, as well as peptide and growth-factor options for hair rejuvenation.
